Multiprotocol Emergency Node

Comprehensive emergency node with extensive operational capabilities and full communication redundancy.

DOC ID: CIPRO-PROYECTOS-NODO-EMERGENCIAS
STATUS: BETA
AUTHOR: Pablo Rocchetta (HP1PAR) / CIPRO
SCOPE: Nacional / Comunitario

At CIPRO, we don’t just stop at theory. The Multiprotocol Emergency Node is one of our flagship projects, currently in the BETA stage and undergoing rigorous field testing.

This project consists of a comprehensive emergency node designed with extensive operational capabilities and full redundancy to ensure communication under any circumstances.

Key Features

  • Integrated services: Capable of operating APRS, Reticulum, SVXLink, Meshtastic BBS, and an APRS/Meshtastic bulletin manager.
  • Nomad Net Portal: A locally hosted tactical emergency page providing live operational data and the active services offered by the node to the community.
  • Winlink: Full integration with the global radio email network.
  • Multiple access modes: Redundant access interfaces via HF radio, VHF, UHF, Meshtastic, Reticulum, VPN, among others.

National Interconnectivity & Regulatory Compliance

One of the greatest strategic advantages of integrating SVXLink into this node is its capability to achieve nationwide interconnectivity. Through IP links, it is possible to simultaneously unite a node in David, another in Santiago, and another in the capital, creating a single, distributed voice network across Panama.

Legally and operationally, the system allows for the separation of radio functions by configuring receive-only (RX) and transmit-only (TX) nodes. Under current Panamanian regulations, this distributed topology significantly expands the national coverage radius without being subject to the legal framework and restrictions of a traditional “repeater”.

Citizen Empowerment: This design holds an invaluable benefit: any unlicensed citizen can install a receive-only (RX) node in their home without needing any permit or license. This technological and legal “trick” ensures that the network’s growth and tactical data collection do not depend exclusively on licensed amateur radio operators. Furthermore, this architecture allows the nodes to operate on license-free bands and frequencies, enabling citizens and entire communities to deploy and operate “their own” civil communication networks.

⚠️ Regulatory Compliance Notice

The frequency information provided is for reference purposes. It is the responsibility of each operator or user to review and confirm the current regulations with the regulatory authorities (ASEP in Panama), bearing in mind that band provisions and allocations may change at any time.
